THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1978) TV Promo

Here's a fun clip - a 1978 CBS promo for the debut of The Amazing Spider-Man starring Nicholas Hammond, and guest-starring the lovely Joanna Cameron (Isis). We even get a tantalizing glimpse of  Ms Cameron in a skimpy white bikini. And people wonder why I'm nostalgic for the 70s....

  1. I loved this show as a kid, probably even more than The Incredible Hulk.

  2. My favorite TV show of all time. I had my Rhino VHS releases converted over to DVD (and later converted to digital files). Would have loved to see live-action Marvel crossovers like they did with the Hulk (Thor and Daredevil)

  3. I remember being eager to see this. Now that I am much older, the fact that Cameron is called "the star of Isis" jumps out at me. I guess they really were going for the kids demographic!

Just watched the episode about the clones a few days ago.

  6. Thanks for this and welcome back Chris. I vividly remember Joanna Cameron in the white bikini too. And why not?
I've been very keen to see this show again for sometime. Anybody heard about any plans for a DVD release? I haven't seen the VHS copies for years, and certainly didn't have the forethought to transfer like your poster 'Sniderman'

  7. What's particularly impressive are the physical effects. That shot of Spiderman climbing down the side of a real building, while not terribly dynamic, is still incredibly impressive to this day.

Imaging being the stuntman who spent days being rigged up to swing from building to building, or else climbing up or down the side of actual buildings with a cable and your own muscles keeping you from sliding off and falling is just amazing.

  8. Just come across a listing and cover pic for the complete 1977 'Amazing Spiderman' series on DVD on a website called ClassicDiscs.com. No sign of the set on Amazon or anywhere else though. Anybody know if this is an official release?

Right after they show her strolling around in a sexy bikini. So, you know, kids and dads. :)
